Unforgettable Mainz
On a planet that is bursting positively at the layers with wonderful and weird places to attend, it may sometimes be simple to neglect other lesser-known spots, which can have lots of things to provide those persons who want to try somewhere a bit different.
In fact, many people will know about famous cities like London, Rome, and Paris; actually, these places may sell themselves to potential guests by just the mention of their name. But, our planet is full of hidden destinations like Mainz, the capital city of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany.
Situated in western part of Germany on the Rhine banks, Mainz has roughly 2000 years of history, going back to the Roman times. But, the greatest claim to fame of the city is maybe as the Johannes Gutenberg’s birthplace, the master builder of what Time-Life magazine announced as the biggest invention of the last1000 years.
The location on the Rhine, the nearness to some of Germany’s loveliest landscapes and the mild climate make Mainz an ideal starting point for hiking, river trips and cycling tours. You can reach all the destinations by car or by train in a good hour at the most. The picturesque location directly on the banks of the Rhine is unique.
Printing press of Gutenberg enabled what is commonly regarded to be the earliest type of ‘mass communication’, in which texts might be printed and distributed all together. Per se, knowledge might then be distributed at greater speed that ultimately assisted the increase of writing and reading across the whole world.
