Suppression of the Patriotic Press!
It is very essential to have all the four pillars of Democracy in a good state. Journalism is considered to be the 4th pillar of Democracy. Looking at recent trends in yellow Journalism, this pillar is in a very bad state. Some Newspapers are fulfilling their duty religiously keeping the National interests in mind. In today's world of Journalism-for-sale, Government must take notice of such devoted Newspapers; but unfortunately, those in power are going in the opposite direction!
The Congress Government in Maharashtra and Goa is trying to suppress the voice of such devoted Newspapers. Our readers should note that ‘Sanatan Prabhat' is first on the list of all such devoted Newspapers suffering due to Governmental suppression!
Fanatics and heretics are criticised by ‘Sanatan Prabhat'. These people are scared of this and rush to the Government demanding action against ‘Sanatan Prabhat'. The Government in Maharashtra, which needs to secure its vote-bank, has struggled to impose a ban on us for the last 8 months. Now the Goa government too is trying to suppress us. To give an example, ‘Information and Publicity Department' of Goa has been giving advertisements to all Newspapers for the last 10 years. Suddenly it has stopped giving any to ‘Sanatan Prabhat' to hurt us financially!
According to a Government plan, advertisements are given to all Newspapers on National Days, National Festivals; but this year ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat' appears to be an exception. The Goa Government or its concerned Department did not give any advertisements to ‘Sanatan Prabhat' on the occasions of Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Goa Liberation Day, and also several Government functions. In this way, it is trying to suppress ‘Sanatan Prabhat' financially. Like Maharashtra, the Goa Government too is prejudiced about ‘Sanatan Prabhat'. It should be mentioned here that the Maharashtra Government has not given any advertisements to ‘Sanatan Prabhat' for the last 10 years.
Freedom to newspapers unacceptable to Congress Government!
Sanatan's representative tried to contact the concerned officer of the ‘Information Department' to enquire about stopping of the advertisements abruptly; but the answer was not convincing. What could be the reason for this? Of the 4 Editions of ‘Sanatan Prabhat' only Goa and Sindhudurg Editions were getting advertisements; but since we started to publish the true nature of Congress the advertisements were stopped. Even though the Muslims do what they like, the Government is giving advertisements in the Urdu papers. The Congress is sadly mistaken if it thinks this will make us compromise on our Journalism. We will not plead, nor sell our Periodical just for the sake of advertisements.
Since our stand is against the Congress Government's, it is boycotting us by not giving us advertisements and thereby depriving us financially - this is what is heard from the Department. Shall we say that the Congress Government does not value freedom of Press and Democracy? Depriving one financially, who speaks against the Government - is this not dictatorship? The same rulers praise the bold Journalism of Lokmanya Tilak on ‘Journalists Day'. The speakers advise promoting unbiased and free Journalism on such a day. Then why this suppression of the Periodicals in a Democracy? Why is the same principle not applied to all Periodicals?
In one English weekly, slanderous matter is given about the Chief Minister and other Ministers, and it prints irrelevant allegations against the members of the cabinet; yet this weekly gets advertisements regularly. How does the Government tolerate this? Some obscene pictures of women harming morality of the future generations are printed in English Periodicals. When alert women requested the Chief Minister to take action against the said Periodicals, he showed his helplessness saying that this is freedom of the Press. Why are the rulers so harsh towards us when they are seriously following the freedom of Press at the cost of even spreading immorality in the society?
We are not going to compromise on the principles of Journalism!
We write bluntly, since we have ideals like Lokmanya Tilak and GP Hegde Dessai (Bharatkar) before us. We do not write out of vengeance, but to fulfill our duty. We write against any Party - whether it be the Congress or BJP etc. We write facts, not just to oppose; and every reader of our Periodical will agree to this. Though a ban was being proposed on ‘Sanatan Prabhat' we continued to write the same way. Hence, due to financial deprivation we will never compromise on our Journalism. We have taken a vow and we will observe it at any cost.
Blessing from God is supreme!
Continuous financial aid is required when one thinks of publishing a Periodical. The help given by the Government through advertisements reduces the financial loss to a certain extent. The subscriber's contribution is just 1/10th of the total cost. To accomplish the aim of development of the Nation and Dharma, suffering financial loss too is possible - because of blessings of Saints, well-wishing readers. Having understood the distinguishing features and importance of ‘Sanatan Prabhat' advertisers give advertisements. With our well-wishers and the support of God behind us, we have been able to keep going for 12 years and it will go on like this! We should remember that whoever participates in the God's mission in order to establish a God's Kingdom is definitely going to be blessed.
We are sure that when a Government having patriots and faithful Hindutvawadis is established, this treatment to ‘Sanatan Prabhat' will be rectified. The Congressmen should remember that when this kind of rule is established, they will be punished severely for disregarding Democracy, while suppressing the freedom of the Press!
