Pink Canon Ixus 95 Review

The Canon Ixus 95 digital camera is labeled as an entry-level model, but it includes some of the features you would find in a more high-level model. The 10 megapixels allow you to take shots that are crystal clear and very easy to crop without losing any resolution. You will also be able to print out large poster sized-photos with ease. Canon has also given a nod to the demographic for entry-level digital cameras by offering four different and playful colors that should appeal to the younger snapshot photographer. The compact design of the Canon Ixus 95 also makes it ideal for anyone who likes to take their camera everywhere they go. Not much bigger than a common cell phone, the Ixus will fit comfortably in a pocket or small purse.

This cute little camera is a little more serious when it comes to taking quality photos. Canon has created a truly automatic camera, and if you set it up correctly you will never need to adjust it for great candid photos and snapshots. The Scene Detection feature will automatically sense the contrast, brightness, and hue of your setting and make the proper adjustments on its own. You really can shoot comfortably in almost any situation, because the camera will choose from 18 preset scene modes.

Face Detection has taken the guesswork out of portrait-taking as well. The Canon Ixus 95 can recognize as many as 35 faces in a single frame, and it will automatically adjust the focus so that the faces are in the foreground and have the best scene mode. The camera will set the flash, shutter speed, and scene for the optimal skin tone reproduction, and it can recognize faces in profile as well as straight on. With the built-in motion detection, the Canon Ixus 95 adjusts the ISO automatically to compensate for camera movement - or the movement of the subject being photographed - to give you a clear image every time.

The most impressive feature of the Canon Ixus 95 is the DIGIC 4 processor. DIGIC is included in Canon's entire top of the line cameras, and it is a pleasant surprise that this lower end model also has this feature. What DIGIC 4 does is calculate the algorithms of your shot as you sort it up and press the shutter, giving you excellent quality photos without a long lag time between shots.

Though it's not the camera for a professional photographer who needs to control every element to get the most out of a shot, the Canon Ixus 95 is ideal for anyone who wants to take casual snapshots. Even the youngest and most inexperienced photographer will be able to take good quality photos with this ultra-automatic camera. The cute design and bright colors will appeal to anyone who enjoys a little whimsy, and the compact nature of this tiny camera makes it great to carry along on any occasion. Canon's reputation for quality remains intact with this camera, even if it is an entry-level model.
